It is getting so close!!!!

This coming Wednesday marks my official entry into my ninth month of being pregnant. Erik and I decided to get some belly pics done and of course waited until my belly was nice and big to do so. Here are some of the pictures that we took.

We are pretty much done with Zoey's room and I am really excited with how it has turned out. There are little things that have yet to be done, but I will post a few of the almost final product.
Next Friday, May 14th will be my last day at work. I decided to take advantage of the 4 weeks prior to the due date that state disability will allow me to take and catch up on some rest and plenty of nesting.
I am feeling really good except for the aches and pains of carrying around so much extra weight. My hands have start to swell and I have not been able to wear my wedding rings in a while without fearing not being able to get them back off. My feet have their moments of swelling although Erik has been fabulous and fills a tub of ice and water for me to put them in when they really hurt. He has been so great!
We have taken a lot of classes that Kaiser has to offer and are a little on information overload. The reality of it is this is going to happen on way or another, so we just have to decide how we might want it all to go and be open to it going the exact opposite of that.
Oh and in somewhat unrelated news, our cats (yes, both of them) disappeared about two weeks ago. Most of you know I do not have much luck with the animals and Erik and I decided there would be no more cats. We would be moving on to getting a dog after Zoey gets settled in. Then this past Thursday Erik was up late (as usual) watching some TV when all of a sudden he heard that the cat door was being used. He only assumed it was not one of ours (once again, we are not that lucky with cats) but one of the neighborhood cats. Sure enough, our luck has changed! Dori walked in looking relieved to finally had found her way back home. Leia is still MIA, but it has given us a little hope that she might still be out there. Dori has just been sleeping, drinking, eating and following us everywhere. She was pretty skinny and dehydrated and sounds like she damaged her "meower" after weeks of doing so.

I imagine I will have more time after I get through the next week (until Zoey comes that is) and hope to get on here with more details as they come about.

Entering week 30!!

Girly things....

Erik and I were just having one of those nights and decided that it might lift our(my) spirits a bit to go out and look at baby stuff. We ended up at the mall about 30 minutes before closing and quickly popped in and out of some of the kid shops. My sister had recently asked me what clothes I had gotten her or if I was having a hard time not buying too many things or something to that affect. I realized I had not bought her anything. Since we found out we were having a little girl, I have resisted the temptation to buy any clothes! WHAT? So on our little outing, we decided we were going to buy our first little outfits. Erik decided he wanted her to have a bathing suit. She will be born in the early summer, and although I imagine I will be hesitant to take her out in the summer heat too much to lounge around, they had the cutest little bathing suit we could not pass up. I tried to get the best picture I could, but if you cannot see it, the hood has little bear ears on it. My choice was the little summer frilly outfit. I know that she will wear a lot of onesies most of the time because they are easy, cool and she will go through so many in a day. BUT this I couldn't pass on. I love the hot pink little bloomers! The last picture is the quilt that I made for her last month. I wanted to start thinking about the colors I wanted in her room, so I went to the fabric store and chose colors and patterns that I would like to try to mimic in her room. There is a dark purple, light green and of course a pink! I plan on sewing more things as we start getting her room together in our new place (fingers crossed, we will be getting the keys to our first home next week).

It's been a while...

Like I said in the beginning, I am just not good at being consistent with these things. As most of you know, a lot has happened since my last post. We decided the week of Christmas that we were going to find out the sex of the baby and surprise the family. We found out it was a GIRL!! Since then, I have heard a number of instences where people were told they were having a girl and it ended up being a boy when the baby was born. I'll admit I am a little freaked out that this would happen and that we would have a boy and no other choice than to dress him in all the non-returnable pink items we had expected to be dressing a little girl in. I know there are much worse things that could happen, but I was not feeling confident at the thought of this. Yesterday we had our level 2 ultrasound at Kaiser. It was a little over an hour of the ultrasound tech doing his thing and making sure that the heart, lungs, brain, kidneys and all the other important parts were developing as they should. We were so thankful to find out that the tech said everything looked like it was progressing as it should. He confirmed that we are going to have a little girl and I made sure that he was confident in this. He reassured us that after 30 years of doing this, that he wasn't wrong often. So that is all the reassurance I can get at this point. So I am trying to proceed with confidence and if there are any little surprises, there is nothing I can do about it at this point and worrying about it doesn't do any good. We are working on the name game and think we have settle on our little girls first name, but are having a more difficult time finding the perfect middle name to go along with it. Before we found out we were having a little girl, we had done a little talking about names, but decided to wait until we knew whether it was going to be a girl or a boy. When we found out we were having a little girl back in December, we left the ultrasound office and asked each other what name (that we had previously talked about) immediately came to mind when they told us it was a girl. It was unanimous. We both thought Zoey. So unless we have a major change of heart and hesitation in the next few months, our little Zoey is growing and developing as healthy as can be expected. We are very excited and hoping for our house plans to move quickly and smoothly so we can really start to settle into the idea that we are having a little girl and we have a good place for her to lay her little head, crawl for the first time and maybe even take her first steps (don't worry grandpa, we will have baby gates if steps and pools are in our future home).

Week 13

This is a little late for week 13, but I wanted to start putting some belly pics up and this was the first one that we really took. I told Erik this wasn't the best time to take the photo since we had just grubbed at a pizza buffet for my sister's birthday, but since I am obviously bad about taking the pics, he insisted we just do it. So this is 13 weeks, with a belly full of pizza. So not so accurate. But whatever.
