It's been a while...

Like I said in the beginning, I am just not good at being consistent with these things. As most of you know, a lot has happened since my last post. We decided the week of Christmas that we were going to find out the sex of the baby and surprise the family. We found out it was a GIRL!! Since then, I have heard a number of instences where people were told they were having a girl and it ended up being a boy when the baby was born. I'll admit I am a little freaked out that this would happen and that we would have a boy and no other choice than to dress him in all the non-returnable pink items we had expected to be dressing a little girl in. I know there are much worse things that could happen, but I was not feeling confident at the thought of this. Yesterday we had our level 2 ultrasound at Kaiser. It was a little over an hour of the ultrasound tech doing his thing and making sure that the heart, lungs, brain, kidneys and all the other important parts were developing as they should. We were so thankful to find out that the tech said everything looked like it was progressing as it should. He confirmed that we are going to have a little girl and I made sure that he was confident in this. He reassured us that after 30 years of doing this, that he wasn't wrong often. So that is all the reassurance I can get at this point. So I am trying to proceed with confidence and if there are any little surprises, there is nothing I can do about it at this point and worrying about it doesn't do any good. We are working on the name game and think we have settle on our little girls first name, but are having a more difficult time finding the perfect middle name to go along with it. Before we found out we were having a little girl, we had done a little talking about names, but decided to wait until we knew whether it was going to be a girl or a boy. When we found out we were having a little girl back in December, we left the ultrasound office and asked each other what name (that we had previously talked about) immediately came to mind when they told us it was a girl. It was unanimous. We both thought Zoey. So unless we have a major change of heart and hesitation in the next few months, our little Zoey is growing and developing as healthy as can be expected. We are very excited and hoping for our house plans to move quickly and smoothly so we can really start to settle into the idea that we are having a little girl and we have a good place for her to lay her little head, crawl for the first time and maybe even take her first steps (don't worry grandpa, we will have baby gates if steps and pools are in our future home).

Yahoo Blog Group

Hopefully you are receiving this email and it is inviting you to become a member of "My reason to blog is..." through the yahoo group: rawlinsbabyblog. I am just trying to figure this out, so hopefully it all works.

Week 14

Ok, this is a horrible picture, but just focus on the belly. Also note that my arm is blocking where my back is so I look a little bigger than I am...

Week 13

This is a little late for week 13, but I wanted to start putting some belly pics up and this was the first one that we really took. I told Erik this wasn't the best time to take the photo since we had just grubbed at a pizza buffet for my sister's birthday, but since I am obviously bad about taking the pics, he insisted we just do it. So this is 13 weeks, with a belly full of pizza. So not so accurate. But whatever.

Who are you calling hormonal?

"Just waking up in the morning gotta thank God
I don't know but today seems kinda odd
No barking from the dog, no smog
And momma cooked a breakfast with no hog
I got my grub on, but didn't pig out
Finally got a call from a girl wanna dig out
Hooked it up for later as I hit the do'
Thinking will i live, another twenty-fo'
I gotta go cause I got me a drop top
And if I hit the switch, I can make the ass drop
Had to stop at a red light
Looking in my mirror not a jacker in sight
And everything is alright
I got a beep from Kim and she can *bleep* all night
Called up the homies and I'm askin y'all
Which park, are y'all playin basketball?
Get me on the court and I'm trouble
Last week *bleep* around and got a triple double
Freaking *racist bleep* every way like M.J.
I can't believe, today was a good day

Drove to the pad and hit the showers
Didn't even get no static from the cowards
Cause just yesterday them fools tried to blast me
Saw the police and they rolled right past me
No flexin, didn't even look in a *racist bleep* direction
as I ran the intersection
Went to Short Dog's house, they was watchin YO! MTV Raps
What's the haps on the craps
Shake em up, shake em up, shake em up, shake em
Roll em in a circle of niggaz and watch me break em
With the seven, seven-eleven, seven-eleven
Seven even back do' little Joe
I picked up the cash flow
Then we played bones, and I'm yellin domino
Plus nobody I know got killed in South Central L.A.
Today was a good day

Left my *racist bleep* house paid
Picked up a girl been tryin to do since the twelfth grade
It's ironic, I had the blunt she had the chronic
The Lakers beat the Supersonics
I felt on the big fat fanny
Pulled out the jammy, and killed the punanny
And my *bleep* runs deep, so deep, so deep
put her *bleep* to sleep
Woke her up around one
she didn't hesitate, to call Ice Cube the top gun
Drove her to the pad and I'm coasting
Took another sip of the potion hit the three-wheel motion
I was glad everything had worked out
Dropped her ass off, then I chirped out
Today was like one of those fly dreams
Didn't even see a berry flashing those high beams
No helicopter looking for a murder
Two in the morning got the Fatburger
Even saw the lights of the Goodyear Blimp
And it read Ice Cube's a pimp
Drunk as hell but no throwing up
Half way home and my pager still blowing up
Today I didn't even have to use my A.K.
I got to say it was a good day."

Why, you ask, do I have the lyrics to Ice Cube's Today was a Good Day on here? Because driving to work this morning, this is the song that I got choked up to... Who are you calling hormonal?...or crazy, which ever you prefer!

Baby Blog

I decided this would be a good way to keep everyone in the loop of how things are going. Hopefully I will keep up on it. Just wanted to let you all know it is up and running!

Oh the joys...

Check the time on this blog....should be about 2am or after. I have had the occasional nights that I cannot sleep before I was pregnant, but tonight I have been up for 2 hours with no sleepiness in sight. Maybe it was the Warm Apple Crisp I opted for at a work dinner tonight, or the part in the baby books I have been reading about being tired during the day and not able to sleep at night.

Since I am up...
I am 9 weeks pregnant today. A little update on how the pregnancy is going. For about 4 weeks I have had an extreme food preference. I am not calling it cravings because it is pretty much the opposite. I am trying to find things that sound good at all. This is a constant challenge since I seem to be eating ever 2 of 3 hours. The nausea kicks in when my stomach does not have something on it. I am also finding that anything I have eaten in the past 24 hours will not sound good unless it is bread. Forget even trying to eat left overs...not happening! Hoping that this will only last through the first trimester and that would mean there is only a few weeks left. If not, then oh the joys of being pregnant and oh the weight I will gain with trying to ease my upset and very opinionated stomach.
